Pale blue cloud

In April/May 2012 we had a nest of Blue tits (Parus caerulus) in one of the bird houses in our garden. By May 19 they seemed to be ready to move out: now and then little heads would poke out and the parents were obviously trying to coax them out with their calls.

On May 20 it was time: in about 20 minutes at least 7 little birds launched themselves out of the bird house, to land against the brick walls or in trees. It was really awesome to witness that event!

A couple of hours after everyone left the house we could still here them in the trees nearby, twittering.

I opened the bird house to check if it needed cleaning: blue tits may start a second nest in the same house and I wanted to make sure that there were no dead birds or any other dirt in there. There was one little unhatched egg in there.

Camera: Canon EOS 40D. Lens: Canon EF-S 55-250mm.
